3 Types of Automatic Electronic Gate Openers

3 Types of Electronic Gate Openers

Electric gate openers open and close gates through an electronic pulse system. The trigger can be a remote control, a keypad or a sensor that is mounted in the driveway. When triggered, a motor opens the gate, gives enough time for then vehicle to enter, and then automatically closes the gate after the traffic has passed. Listed below are 3 types of electronic gate openers.

Phone Based Electronic Gate Openers

One of the most common types of automatic gate openers is triggered by telephone. Each individual user of the enclosed area is given their own access code. When they wish to enter, they just punch the code into the actuator and gates open. This system allows the property manager to monitor who is coming and going at any given time. It is especially helpful during emergency situations to know who is and isn’t on the lot. These systems can be mounted anywhere on a property and can be connected to phone lines, cellular and mobile communications devices. They can also be accessed from your web browser or through an online portal. These are most often used for commercial properties, buildings and lots.

Fob or Card Automatic Gate Openers

Key Fob or Card entry systems are another popular gate control system. Users are given an electrically coded card for which is swiped across a sensor. This is like an electric key which then activates the gate opener and allows entrance. Again, the system waits for the vehicle to enter and then comes when the traffic is safely through the gate. These types of system are very popular in residential areas and condo corporations. They are also very popular in commercial areas as the cards or fobs can be easily replaced or recoded.

Buried Sensor Electronic Gate Openers

Last but not least are the underground sensor gate openers. As the title suggests, these types of gate entryways are triggered by a sensor which is buried beneath the ground. As a vehicle moves over the sensor, a magnetic trigger is thrown which actuates the gate. Just to be clear, these gate openers are very convenient, but are the least secure of all electronic gate openers.
